National Awareness-Raising Week

European Union - First Week of June 2010

EUROCHIPS initiative featuring a series of local events in member countries held during this week to raise awareness of the plight of prisoners’ children.

EUROCHIPS member Bambinisenzasbarre (Milan, Italy), for example, plans to organize an art exhibition of drawings by prisoners’ children and the launch date will fall during NAW. Other ideas include organizing concerts or plays; designing flyers; and holding virtual events like sending out a special (virtual) NAW postcard.

NAW 2010 will serve as a pilot for European Prisoners' Children Week in 2011 and aims to create momentum and initiate awareness on a national level.
