Report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
The Norwegian Forum for the Convention of the Rights of the Child has submitted a shadow report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. FFP has contributed to this work. Among other issues, attention is drawn to the situation of children with imprisoned parents and children whose parents risk deportation after serving their sentence.

Children and Imprisoned Parents conference
Relais Enfants-Parents Cameroun (REPCAM) organized a two-day conference in June in Yaoundé entitled "Children and Imprisoned Parents." Some 120 participants attended the event, including a representative from the Justice Ministry, the director of Yaoundé Prison and prison officers.

Effects of parental imprisonment
The number of children with parents in prison is increasing in many countries worldwide. Theory and qualitative research suggest that parental imprisonment might contribute to child antisocial behaviour and mental health problems, because of the trauma of separation, strained child-care arrangements during parental imprisonment, loss of family income, other stressful life events such as moving home and school, and the stigma of parental imprisonment.
